Theyleftwellbeforedaylight.RaffinandBannsawthemoff,thetwomedicinemakersbleary-eyed,Bannyawningendlessly.Themorningwascold,andKatsawaswideawake,andquiet.Forshewasshyofherridingpartner;andshefeltstrangeaboutRaffin,sostrangethatshewishedhewasn’tthere.IfRaffinhadn’tbeentherewatchinghergo,thenperhapsshe’dhavebeenabletopretendshewasn’tleavinghim.WithRaffinthere,therewasnopretense,andshewasunabletodoanythingaboutthestrangepainfulwaterthatroseintohereyesandthroat,everytimeshelookedathim.

天还没亮，卡莎和阿宝已经准备逃离兰达城。拉芬和班恩来给她们送行，当时，这两个制药师睡眼朦胧，送行的时候，班恩还不停地打着哈欠。清晨有点凉，这让卡莎格外清醒，而且平静。她有点害羞，因为她还没习惯与阿宝一起出行；另外，她对拉芬来送她有些膈应。她不想在这个时候见到拉芬。如果拉芬不到场，她或许能够假装自己是出去办事，而不是离开他们。但，拉芬来了，她们之间无法伪装，卡莎无法控制她的泪水和她的失声的嗓音，因为每当她抬头看着拉芬，一种莫名其妙的痛就会涌上心头。

Raffin’seyeslaugheddownather.“Takethis.”Heclosedherhandsoverasmallsatchel.“It’sabagofmedicines,incaseyoushouldneedthem.I’vemarkedthemsoyou’llknowwhateachisfor.”

拉芬眯着眼睛，笑了笑，低头看着她。“拿着它。”他把一小布囊塞到了卡莎手中，然后握着卡莎的手，让她收下。“这里面是一些药，或许你用得着。放心，我在每种药上贴了标签，看了标签，你就知道它们是干什么用的了。”

“好吧，”拉芬说。“有空的话，千万记得给我们捎点信来，告诉我们你的情况。”

“Ofcourse,”Katsasaid.

Helookedathisfeetandclearedhisthroat.Herubbedhisneck,andsighed.Howshewishedagainthatheweren’there.Forthetearswouldspillontohercheeks,andshecouldn’tstopthem.
